“Assam CM Criticizes Congress Manifesto, BJP Labels it ‘Bundle of Lies’”

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took aim at the Congress party’s recently released Lok Sabha Election 2024 manifesto, branding it as “confusing” and of questionable value. Sarma remarked that the manifesto seemed more geared towards Pakistan than India, leading to potential confusion among voters.

The Congress’ manifesto, titled ‘Nyay Patra,’ highlighted five pillars of justice, including provisions for youth, women, farmers, laborers, and equitable participation. It promised freedom of choice and various reforms, including job reservations for the economically weaker section (EWS) and laws for the LGBTQIA+ community.

In response, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dismissed the Congress manifesto as a “bundle of lies.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi likened the Congress’ approach to that of the pre-Independence Muslim League, emphasizing a clash of ideologies between the two parties.

The exchange of criticisms underscores the heightened political tensions in the lead-up to the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, scheduled to commence on April 19, with vote counting slated for June 4. Despite the BJP’s dismissal, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed confidence in the manifesto’s transformative potential, calling it a reflection of India’s collective aspirations.
